Information we collect
When you register, we collect your name, email, account type, and a password hash. If you request credential verification, we also collect relevant insurance or licensing details and supporting documents (such as a certificate of insurance). Stripe Identity collects identity-document information through its hosted verification experience; we store a verification reference and result rather than government ID images. You may optionally provide your company, state, city, professional profile, project descriptions, private project proposals (prices, timelines and scope), contractor availability and service areas, and messages. We also process basic operational metadata to help prevent abuse.
How we use information
We use account data to maintain membership access, publish approved marketplace listings, provide private messaging, review submitted content, verify submitted business credentials with issuing agents or authorities, and support the service. Identity, insurance and license verification results may be displayed as separately labeled public badges while active. Payment does not guarantee approval. Listings display the information you choose to submit, excluding your account email. Private conversations and private project proposals are available to the relevant participants and authorized administrators where necessary to operate and protect the platform. Contractor availability and service areas may appear publicly on approved contractor listings.
Service providers and retention
Account, verification case details, and uploaded insurance/license supporting documents are stored using Vercel infrastructure with private access. If subscriptions are activated, payment transactions are handled by Stripe, and Contractor Connect does not store raw payment-card details. We retain records as needed to operate the service, comply with legal requirements, and resolve disputes. You may delete your account from your dashboard or contact us for additional privacy requests. Some records may be retained where legally required.
Security and your choices
We use encrypted connections and private storage, but no internet service can promise absolute security. You can edit your profile or archive listings in your dashboard. Do not submit confidential information in public listings.
Changes
We may update this policy as the marketplace evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
